Role Summary:

As a Safety Advisor (NCSO) for our client, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the implementation of safety protocols for a high-voltage power installation and underground utility installation project. Your role will involve conducting safety audits, providing training, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety programs and procedures specific to high-voltage power and underground utility installations.
  2. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  3. Provide safety training and guidance to employees and subcontractors, ensuring they understand and adhere to safety protocols.
  4. Investigate and report on incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  5. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities.
  6. Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
  7. Stay updated on the latest safety regulations and best practices in high-voltage and underground utility installations.
  8. Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among all project participants.
Qualifications:

Certification as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO). Proven experience in high-voltage power installation and underground utility installation. In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction and utility projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential hazards and implement effective solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach to safety management.

Preferred Experience:

Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects in urban environments. Previous involvement in projects requiring meticulous coordination of high-voltage and underground utilities. Familiarity with Indigenous employment initiatives and a commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive work environments.

Eligibility:

This position is only open to Indigenous candidates. A Canadian Indigenous person is an aboriginal person as defined in the Constitution Act of Canada and includes a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit person. First Nations includes "Status", "Treaty", or "Registered" Indians as well as individuals of aboriginal descent who are "Non-Status" and "Non-Registered" Indians.
