Transfer Station Operator to join our team at the Prentiss Transfer Site, working Monday to Friday, from 9am
The Transfer Station Site Operator is responsible for:
- assisting, directing and educating customers in proper waste disposal methods;
- maintaining the cleanliness of the site;
- conducting visual inspections of loads as needed to prevent disposal of prohibited materials;
- performing minor preventative maintenance duties, such as greasing and oiling;
- operating the scales to properly weigh vehicles etc;
- participating in workplace safety initiatives and meetings, and reporting to work fit for duty.
We're looking for an individual:
- who has the ability to communicate effectively with facility users to assure proper usage and provide assistance as required;
- who enjoys working outdoors in various weather conditions and is able to perform medium lifting and moving of objects of up to 40lbs;
- enjoys performing a variety of tasks (mowing grass, shoveling snow, assisting customers) and helping out co-workers when required (operating skid steer/tractor, changing out bins, etc.) who is dependable and is able to work with mínimal supervision;
- who has a minimum of a valid Class 3 Alberta Driver's License. Equipment operation experience is preferred.
A mechanical aptitude is an asset in this position. This position may also be dispatched to other transfer sites within Lacombe County to provide necessary coverage when required.
