The Technology Field Specialist provides in-person technical support to Modern Niagara’s Ottawa based field teams, thus enabling field staff to be more effective and efficient with their technology tools. Field support involves resolving technical device issues, providing training, and support for business applications.

As an ideal candidate, you are a problem solver and self-starter who enjoys helping people find more efficient ways to accomplish their goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive onboarding and follow-up sessions for foremen, focusing on critical project execution applications for project management, time capture, safety, condition monitoring, document and drawing management, and other processes. Provide proactive technology support, scheduled in advance, to anticipate and resolve issues before they impact project workflows. Develop and deliver training tailored to the specific needs of each project and foreman, enhancing understanding and effective use of technology. Support the rollout of new features and updates, ensuring teams are well-informed and equipped to implement changes. Organize and lead technology workshops, both on-site and virtually, covering essential software such as Excel and Word, tailored for larger groups. Act as a conduit for tech challenges and ideas from job sites, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and efficiently. Serve as the on-site IT support liaison, providing basic IT helpdesk functions, establishing a direct line to IT technicians, and overseeing hardware delivery and setup. Manage site hardware support, including internet connectivity, printers, monitors, and workstations, ensuring optimal operational conditions. Offer drop-in style support aligned with foreperson meetings to address immediate concerns and facilitate ongoing learning. Provide semi-annual updates to management on technology adoption progress, challenges, and success stories.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

3+ years of experience in IT support, preferably within a construction or project-based environment. Candidates must hold or qualify for Government Public Works Security Clearance (Reliability Level) Experience and familiarity working on construction sites with construction personnel. Strong familiarity with construction management software (Procore, BCX, UKG, Noggin, OpenSpace) and general office applications (Excel, Word). Excellent communication and training skills, capable of addressing a wide range of technical skills and learning styles. Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing potential IT issues. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality support to on-site project teams. Willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
