Senior Risk Analyst, Enterprise Risk Management

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Risk Management, this position is responsible for developing and implementing elements that will support the Enterprise Risk Management program. This position will be responsible for performing risk-related work on key initiatives, contributing to ongoing risk practices geared towards day-to-day business, and for providing independent oversight and objective challenge of management in all business and support areas, ensuring that adherence to the risk framework is obtained and adequate risk governance is achieved. The ERM Manager will help drive a culture of risk ownership and accountability across the organization. 

The successful candidate demonstrates a strong ability and experience in risk management standards and frameworks, with greater emphasis on practices associated with Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), and Operational Risk and Resilience including Business Continuity Management (BCM). The candidate has the ability to work independently and in small teams with commitment and engagement. Advanced analytical skills, with attention to detail is critical for the success in the role.
 
Responsibilities
ï· Support the continued development and implementation of the client Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework. Provide oversight and effective challenge to ensure that
enterprise risks across the organization are being effectively managed in alignment with established practices and Risk Appetite

ï· Support the advancement of risk management practices related to operational resiliency, business continuity, change management, third-party risk and climate risk in support of regulatory requirements OSFI B10, OSFI E21, OSFI B15 guidelines.

ï· Manage the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program to identify, assess, mitigate, govern and report on the companyâs third-party risks. Provide Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) second line of risk management oversight of the third-party risk management activities conducted by the first line.

ï· Design and implement operational risk and resilience program, policies, guidelines and standards and a measurement methodology which is aligned with regulatory expectations and the companyâs overall elected and targeted level of risk measurement maturity.

ï· Review operational risk events and conduct root cause analysis to assess processes and controls for remediation or improvement opportunities.

ï· Support activities related to the business continuity management (BCM) program including plan reviews and reporting

ï· Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the companyâs Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process for all significant business activities and lines of business, assessing and challenging the inherent and residual risk.

ï· Facilitate the New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA) process for new initiatives to properly assess and mitigate high inherent risks and ensure residual risks are acceptable and within the companyâs risk tolerance levels.

ï· Through oversight assessments and activities, ensure that issues and opportunities are identified, remediated, and reported to senior management within established monitoring and escalation parameters.

ï· Establish and implement testing methodologies, programs, and scenario analysis in line with the maturity of the company risk program

ï· Ensure the development, administration and maintenance of the companyâs Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) tool (Logicgate) continues to meet the requirements of ERM programs

ï· Ensure the periodic and timely review of ERM risk related policies, management guidelines, risk frameworks, risk appetite, processes and controls as business and regulatory conditions may require.

ï· Foster a culture aligned to company values and partner with colleagues to help drive a culture of risk ownership and accountability across the organization. Develop and deliver enterprise risk training programs and program awareness delivery.

Skills and Qualifications
ï· University degree in a related field (Risk Policy, Risk Management, Business, Finance).
ï· 5-7 years of progressive risk management, audit experience, or second line risk management
experience (or 1B line of defense), preferably in the financial industry including strong
knowledge of the regulatory environment and requirements.
ï· Dynamic individual with expertise in mortgage insurance, mortgage lending and /or consumer
credit related businesses.
ï· Advanced knowledge and proven work experience in risk management, compliance matters,
corporate governance, regulatory/legal issues, and business planning strategies.
ï· Knowledge of Canadian operational risk-related regulator expectations (applicable OSFI
Guidelines) and risk management practices and principles.
ï· Significant knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices regarding the internal
audit, operational risk and compliance practices, and internal control frameworks and risk
standards, such as COSO and ISO.
ï· Experience in governance, risk management, and compliance practices (e.g. risk
identification, controls management, assessment, and reporting)
ï· Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and problem-solving abilities.
ï· Experience in business process improvement and design including scaling and automating
processes.
ï· Superior written and verbal communication skills coupled with meeting facilitation abilities and
superior presentation skills.
ï· Developing/maintaining knowledge and awareness of the financial industry, risk management
practices and regulatory and/or policy changes.
ï· Proven project management skills to establish governance structure, policies and/or programs
within a business or function. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple
priorities and manage concurrent deadlines.
ï· Strong team player who is resourceful and a proactive self-starter with excellent stakeholder
management skills.

ï· High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential
matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
