The Solutions Design and Delivery Unit in the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) is looking for individuals to design and develop new data-driven solutions and practices for the ministry's business intelligence and data analytics platform. We are seeking energetic self-starters, with strong leadership capabilities, effective communication, collaboration, and relationship building skills.

The ideal candidates should have experience facilitating and leading the gathering of user and system needs working closely with internal and external ministry program and solutions team members. You will interact with many other groups to define and deliver meaningful products. Working in an agile project methodology, you will conduct user research, create wireframes and interactive prototypes, define information architecture, collect, analyze, and prioritize business and data requirements, create detailed documentation, user stories, process flow diagrams, journey maps, and participate in digital thinking design sessions. The Business Intelligence and Practice Division leads innovation in the application and integration of data, business intelligence, information management and evidence-based metrics with Ministry partners to support organizational effectiveness and demonstrate improved outcomes for Ontarians. The division provides and grows data, research and analytics capacity for policy and program areas across the ministry and leads public reporting on ministry initiatives and the government's poverty reduction strategy.

What can I expect to do in this role?As a User Experience Designer, you will:
• lead complex end-to-end projects to ensure alignment to strategic and operational priorities, incorporating best practices and user-centered design processes and methodologies
• identify, design and implement new and improve existing business intelligence and data analytics solutions
• conduct user research, information and data architecture activities, and functional assessments
• lead and conduct business analysis activities to gather requirements, develop UI mockups, wireframes, user workflow diagrams and prototypes that lead to sustainable product releases
• conduct usability and accessibility testing to ensure compliance with user needs and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
• facilitate and manage stakeholder communications throughout project lifecycle
• provide advice and guidance on facilitation of user requirements, experience and design
• participate in steering committees and other stakeholder forums to ensure business alignment with proposed solutions
• monitor progress, resolves problems and report regularly to management and decision makers

How do I qualify?Technical Knowledge and Experience• Demonstrated experience in business analysis including business analysis and modelling expertise, analysis tools, technology, processes, and methodologies to analyze client needs and complex problems and recommending solutions
• Demonstrated experience with lean UX methodologies, developing and maintaining UX style guides, UX pattern libraries, code standards, best practices and guidelines, designing web graphics using a flat or minimalist design style, developing prototypes
• Demonstrated experience with designing web user interfaces using wireframes, mock-ups and clickable prototypes, building web user interfaces using markup languages (HTML5, CSS3)
• Demonstrated experience in designing information architecture and taxonomies, using research and testing techniques
• Demonstrated experience in testing web accessibility, usability testing methodologies, implementation and testing tools and methods (e.g., JAWS, browser extensions, A/B testing, usability testing, heatmaps)
• Demonstrated experience with content management systems and related tools (e.g., SharePoint, WordPress, front-end markup and design tools)
• Knowledge of internet, World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) international standards, web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 A+ AA),
• Demonstrated experience with software applications such as database and presentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Sequel Server and Power BI)
• Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Sharepoint, Teams, Visio)
• Demonstrated experience in software tools for project management and development (e.g. Jira, Microsoft Azure DevOps)
