About the role

Our growing team is looking for a Senior Product Owner

Data is the most important asset in today's competitive world. We are the data and analytics department of Canada's largest property and casualty insurer. Our mission is: "Accelerate our data advantage by bringing ready-to-consume analytics data to users at an appropriate level of trust and security."

Our team performs the development of data acquisition and ingestion of our enterprise systems. We manage ingestion, storage, preparation, and transformation for the diverse needs of our data consumers. We are structured in small, highly productive teams. What you'll do:

  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog strategically based on business value, scope, schedule, budget, and capacity.

  • Manage the evolution and define the product vision with stakeholders.

  • Create new product backlog items, identify scope, operational requirements, and acceptance criteria.

  • Monitor development progress and communicate statuses with stakeholders and ensure their interests are considered throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Validate that the operational requirements and acceptance criteria are met.

  • Motivate the team to deliver superior products and create business value.

  • Define with stakeholders the objectives, targets and key indicators of product performance and quality and monitor their achievement.

  • Collaborate with management on resource planning.

  • Ensure that user training documentation is sufficient, useful and up-to-date, and participate in this practice.

  • Keep up to date with Agile/Scrum best practices and new industry trends.

What you need:

  • College diploma, bachelor's degree in information technology or any combination of education and equivalent experience.

  • More than 3 years of experience as a product owner in a data-driven and/or business intelligence-driven environment.

  • Understanding of data warehouse development (Snowflake, Oracle, SQL, Power BI, or other equivalent BI tools).

  • In-depth understanding of the Agile development process and best practices.

  • Strong analytical, technical, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and SharePoint.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Your experience and knowledge of insurance claims is an asset.

  • Certification (CSPO, PSPO I, PSPO II) will be considered an asset.

  • Bilingualism (French and English) â Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
