About the Role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer 1 is accountable for providing intermediate level operational procurement work and delivering effective supply chain solutions to the business, including bid winning and
project delivery teams. The incumbent improves performance and reduces cost and business risk significantly, delivers a better value supply chain by embedding category strategies into projects, and focuses on the needs of internal and external customers. The incumbent manages the supply of goods and services across business units.

As a Project Manager at Graham you will:

  • Support the Supply Chain Manager in delivering objectives and initiatives.
  • Handle supply chain management activity within business units.
  • Support the supply chain solution for bid winning in business units.
  • Participate in strategic projects as necessary.
  • Ensure that the supply chain is safe, sustainable, and appropriately accredited.
  • Support the production of the project procurement strategy and schedule.
  • Prepare and support the placement of subcontract (subcontract is not in all business units) and material supply orders.
  • Draft and issue contractual documentation where required.
  • Achieve targets set by the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Monitor supply chain delivery against procurement schedule.
  • Work closely with category management colleagues and cross-functional teams to implement agreements across the business.
  • Deliver targeted savings and performance improvement benefits.
  • Assume accountability for the cost-reduction and performance of the supply chain in the area of responsibility.
  • Conduct regular management reporting, financial status, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Support the project and / or business cash management strategy.
  • Conduct and support subcontract and supply pre-let meetings and negotiations.
  • Focus on effective communication and relationship building with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Ensure resources are in place to meet the business needs.

    Qualifications / Experience

    • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or another technical field.
    • SCMA / CIPS qualification is preferred.
    • Minimum 3-7 years of experience in a buyer role or related.
    • Strong understanding of supply chain principles, procedures, and methods.
    • Relevant product and subcontract market knowledge is an asset.
    • Relevant knowledge of forms of contract and strong commercial awareness.
    • Strong analytical skills and high competency in supplier selection and evaluation.
    • Competency in value engineering and performance improvement.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Strong understanding of contractual and commercial agreements.
    • Competent project management and planning skills.
    • Ability to operate under pressure and to meet tight and demanding deadlines.
    • Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office.
    • Most of the work is completed in the office or project site, however regular travel may be required.
    • The incumbent is exempt from overtime.
