Accounting Analyst

As one of WorkplaceNL's Accounting Analysts, you will work collaboratively as a member of the Finance Department and be accountable for monitoring, analyzing, evaluating and testing the payroll functions primarily and providing support to accounts payable processes. This role would identify opportunities for systems and payment processing improvements.

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing analytical expertise, identifying trends and opportunities for efficiencies in the accounts payable and payroll processes and to make recommendations to the Manager, Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  • Assists the Manager, Accounts Payable and Payroll, with various payroll, accounts payable, and vendor administration functions. The incumbent will complete general ledger account and payroll remittance reconciliations.
  • This position is also responsible for providing backup support to payroll processing functions as required.
  • Assists other finance staff with core accounting and finance functions during peak periods or as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree with a concentration in Accounting, supplemented by three years' experience in a computerized accounting environment.
  • The candidate must have strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and meet all established deadlines.
  • The successful candidate must be proficient in advanced Excel applications. Knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft Word would be an asset.

What success looks like in this role

  • Continually seeking innovative ways to improve and streamline the payroll and accounts payable process, using analytical tools to create reports and interpret the data.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with internal departments, employees as well as external vendors of WorkplaceNL.

Experience and an educational equivalency will be considered.
