Data Center Operations Manager

In this role you will, together with a small team of technicians, be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the data centre infrastructure by reporting to the Management of Chief Fuels, while carrying out physical tasks of maintenance and repair. You will work diligently to complete all client requests and maintain operations to clients' standards and expectations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities and site operations in a 24x7 operating environment, including on call services.
  • Collaborate with operations monitoring centre in Asia and technical advisors in Europe.
  • Working in a constantly changing environment, ensuring that daily routines and procedures are up to date, while guaranteeing operational excellence.
  • Perform daily maintenance tasks such as hardware upgrades, equipment installations, repairs of equipment and general hardware management to ensure optimal performance of the data centre.
  • Monitor data centre infrastructure including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and power distribution systems to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Respond to alerts and alarms in a expedient manner, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions to minimize and prevent downtime.
  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers for equipment repairs, replacements, and upgrades as necessary.
  • Organise and arrange logistics for both local and international orders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of data centre assets, configurations and procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation of new technologies and systems within the data center environment, including the creation of new procedures.
  • Adhere to security protocols and best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data stored in the data centre.
  • Maintain logs for service and maintenance on deployed assets.
  • Create reports on data centre operations at the request of upper management.
  • Prepare hardware for changing weather conditions.
  • Mentor and develop the Operations team on site.
  • Substitute for the Facility/Operations Manager during absences.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a warehouse/ data centre operation, where both management of a team and working through individual tasks took place
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting, HVAC, plumbing, security, and fire protection.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyse complex technical issues.
  • Hands-on with entrepreneurial mindset, startup experience is an asset.
  • Comfortable directing and supporting a team of technicians in a 24x7 operating environment.
  • Strong ability to work with multiple programs and communication tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience in MS Office Suite, especially excel.
  • Knowledge of data center best practices, standards, and protocols.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments.
