The Navigator is responsible for the development, implementation, administration, evaluation, and delivery of the navigation component of the Screening Program for Breast Cancer. In collaboration with other health care providers including program staff, family physicians and community partners, the Navigator acts as a clinical resource, providing support, information and education to promote coordination and continuity of care in matters related to the Screening Program for Breast Cancer. This position reports to the Manager Screening Program for Breast Cancer.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education:- Bachelor Degree in Nursing
- Licensed with the College of Registered Nurses (CRNA).
- Five (5) years' experience working in applied health care.
- Experience in program development and evaluation is an asset.
Skills:
- Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Advanced client/patient assessment skills with the ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide high quality client support through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic and safety interventions.
- Demonstrated ability to provide person-centered, trauma informed, culturally safe nursing support.
- Requires a high degree of judgment and problem solving ability and critical thinking skills to identify, analyze and define problems and select the most appropriate solution.
- Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple diverse stakeholders at all levels of responsibility within the SCA and externally.
- Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications.
- Ability to teach and present information to persons over whom the incumbent may have no direct authority.
- Leadership skills required to lead Agency projects/committees.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in various stages of completion according to priorities.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
