About this opportunity:

We are on the lookout for a dedicated 5G Baseband Software Developer to join our team at Ericsson. This engaging role involves the development and maintenance of our products and services, including components, units, nodes, networks, systems, and solutions. The UPC Scheduler is a key domain within Ericsson's baseband software architecture. This position is responsible for ensuring the implementation and architectural readiness of the UPC Scheduler to align with the anticipated roadmap for new features being concurrently developed in both EMCA purpose-built and virtualized RAN solutions, In depth knowledge in domain and deep understanding of the Baseband SW/HW architecture is mandatory to optimal work in this role and contributes to the verification strategy, especially on code and sub-Module / Domain level, including interaction/co-existence with other features. The daily work involves high level decision making and affects hundreds of Ericsson employees across the world.

What you will do:

  • Actively engage in the design discussions for UPC and take the initiative to drive the concurrent development of UPC Scheduler functions for both EMCA purpose-built and virtualized RAN solutions.
  • Analyzing and proposing new solutions/improvements in the domain to ensure efficient implementation.
  • Define and carry out the realization of SW design principles in UPC domain, including domain design rules, test strategy and competence development plan for the domain.
  • Feasible to design and code very complex algorithmic solutions Develop and/or test software, implement new functionalities in C, C++, and python, often in a multi-core target environment.
  • Develop automated test cases to ensure existing functionality is never degraded by new software
  • Ensure Feature Interaction impacts.
  • Follow an Agile product development process, working collaboratively in small cross-functional teams.

The skills you bring:

  • 2+ year in baseband software development with preferably in UPC domain.
  • Experience with 3GPP LNR L2 development/design.
  • Bachelor's or preferably master's degree majored in wireless communication.
  • Real-Time Software development specially in a multi-core deployment scenario
  • Experienced with the systemization or implementation of NR Scheduler functions.
  • Good communication, presentation, collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Excellent knowledge in Linux environments
  • Experience working in a git/gerrit based development flow
  • Background working in a CI based development environment using e.g. Jenkins or similar
  • Ability to work with open-source SW components and tools
  • Well-crafted programming skills in C or C++ Implemented software.
  • Scripting experience (Perl, Python)
  • Technically able to identify issues from sophisticated software systems.
  • Demonstrated a proficiency in critical thinking and lateral problem solving.
  • Excellent communication in verbal and written English
  • Deep knowledge on 3GPP standards, specifically in NR protocols and systemization of complex NR features.
  • Systemization or implementation of scheduler, QoS, HARQ, DL link adaptation, carrier aggregation
  • MSc level in Wireless Protocol/5G User Plan Control
  • Comfortably discuss wireless communication theory
