About the Opportunity

The Ericsson organization within Business Unit Networks is seeking a skilled Cloud Native 5G vDU System Architect to work closely with customers delivering virtualized RAN solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full-stack Virtualization of the 5G NR CU and DU
  • Systemization of CRAN & DRAN configurations
  • COTS HW including L1 accelerators
  • Cloud-Native infrastructure based on ADP framework for SW based on micro-services and containers
  • Open interfaces (e.g F1, X2/Xn, A1, O1, LLS...)
  • Architecture for automation, AI and Machine Learning
  • Band support: Sub-6 & Mid-Band AAS to start with, High-Band in the future
  • Radio support: Potentially all Ericsson NR capable radios with the use of eCPRI or CPRI converter

Responsibilities Include:

  • Driving and participating in system studies for products and features and product evolution
  • Delivering scalability, resilience, and performance by taking full advantage of the evolving architectural and services inherent to a Cloud-Native Platform with leading edge HW accelerators
  • Modularizing the implementation such that it can prioritize multiple type of interfaces (proprietary, ORAN...) and multiple types of Radios (Macro, Mid-Band AAS, High Band, Indoor...)
  • Driving continuous improvements of products, simulation tools and processes
  • Participating in proof-of-Concept development
  • Interfacing with customers to understand their pain points and future needs
  • Participating in the development of roadmaps and strategies for hardware and software platforms
  • Development of Intellectual Property
  • Cultivating a systematization and implementation that enable rapid feature parity in a Stand-Alone and Hybrid network environment
  • Working on 3GPP NR and ORAN standards protocols and advanced 5G feature

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years' work in Wireless System architecture/ standardization or Cloud Native product architecture/ development
  • At least 3 years of work experience in functions related to NR DU or Radio systems
  • BSc or MSc level in Electrical/ Computer Systems engineering or related specialization
  • Experienced with developing wireless system models and simulation tools for system performance evaluation of 5G RAN systems. Good understanding of wireless channel models and L1/L2/L3 Algorithms will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Native core design principles is desirable
  • Collaborative and extraordinary teammate

Additional Requirements:

  • Self-motivated. Ability to work under pressure and learn independently.
  • Good presentation, time management and leadership skills & ability to work with diverse backgrounds
  • Result oriented with focus on customer satisfaction and project delivery
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
  • Background in communications theory and digital signal processing
  • Experience in Radio access technologies (NR, LTE, WCDMA, GSM), Baseband, and/or HW/SW design or research.
  • Solid understanding of NR 3GPP specifications, especially in the areas of the Physical Layer, Radio Resource Management, and Mobility.
  • Experience in SW development. Languages include: Java, Matlab, C and C++
  • Analytical and mathematical approach, high capacity, and result-oriented ability to deliver under pressure.
  • Experience in leading technical teams and/or being perceived as a technical leader.
  • Excellent English skills, both verbal and written, providing effective communication and building positive relationships internally as well as externally.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
