Your role and responsibilities

As a Health, Safety & Environment Specialist, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in your assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Each day, you will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain.
The work model for the role is mostly onsite. #LI-Onsite
This role is contributing to the Electrification, Installation Products division in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
You will be mainly accountable for:
• Providing feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within their own unit and across ABB.
• Participate to the establishment and monitor strategic plans for a “Zero accident by choice” culture.
• Supporting and driving behavioral change through the local implementation of group-wide and business-specific performance improvement programs and practices.
• Act as an advisor/coach to employees, supervisors and managers on HSE programs and best practices.
• Encourage a proactive attitude towards health and safety in your area of the plant “Don’t look the other way” policy.
• Promote and coordinate prevention activities (corporate programs, risk assessment, emergency drills,).
• Participate in the stages of events and incidents investigations and ensure that root causes are addressed.
• Develop, identify relevant training activities or needs, define or deliver various HSE training programs.
• Contribute to the deployment, implementation and monitoring of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) programs according the ABB way (ex: ergonomics programs, emergency plans, lock out, electrical safety,..etc).
• Monitor municipal, provincial and federal regulatory changes and conduct conformity assessments.
• Support services in the management of change process.
• Plan, coordinate and take part in external audits (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) for ELIP sites.
• Monitor and ensure the closure of internal and external audit results.
• Facilitate and coordinate various HSE meetings and activities including meetings with the Health and Safety Committee (HSC) for their area.
• In collaboration with their colleague from the other area and with the help of internal or external experts, analyze the work environment such as air quality, noise level, lighting, thermal constraints, etc.
You will join a cohesive and dynamic team team, where you will be able to thrive.
This position reports to the Health, Safety & Environment Manager.

Qualifications for the role
  • 3-5 years of experience, ideally in a unionized environment.
  • Degree in Health and Safety or in Human Resources
  • French is mandatory, functional English is preferred
  • Knowledge of PowerBI is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills to train and educate employees on health and safety procedures
