About Us:

The Corridor Management Section ensures the equitable administration of the ministry's corridor management legislation, policies, standards and procedures to support economic growth while ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across the province. The section administers activities required to determine, convey, and promote the ministry's position with respect to One Window and Municipal Plan Review planning applications, developer and property owner land use and development proposals, requests for access onto or in the vicinity of the highway and related inquiries and their potential impacts to the provincial highway corridor. The section also reviews entrance, building and land use, encroachment and sign permit applications and issues applicable permits in compliance with the ministry's policies, guidelines and customer service standards.

Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities

You will contribute to the achievement of team goals by:

• Managing and coordinating the activities of the Corridor Management section
• Providing leadership to deliver the regional corridor management functions and activities.
• Providing expert land use planning and engineering support and advice on issues related to Corridor Management to regional senior management.
• Providing technical advice on permit applications, development proposals, land use proposals and other related issues to protect the long-term safety, viability and integrity of the highway network within the region.

How do I qualify?Mandatory• You must be licensed by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
• You have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.
• You are able and willing to travel occasionally across the region and within Ontario.

Leadership and Management Skills:• You have strategic leadership and management skills to provide guidance to a diverse team and effectively schedule work.
• You are committed to building organizational capacity through inclusive, positive, and values-based leadership.
• You can ensure compliance with legislative statutes, policies and collective agreements.
• You have sound judgment and political acuity to provide advice to senior management.

Technical Knowledge:• You have advanced knowledge of civil engineering with a focus on transportation planning, corridor management, and highway design.
• You have a comprehensive understanding of relevant acts and regulations, such as the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act, Drainage Act, Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, and Highway Traffic Act.
• Your can identify deficiencies in corridor management projects and establish frameworks for creating new business opportunities to finance highway operations.
• You can acquire knowledge of land use planning methodologies and provincial and municipal-level transportation planning.

Analytical and Program Management Skills:• You have exceptional planning, organizational, and project management skills to plan and coordinate work plans.
• You have capability to plan, develop, and implement policies, contract documents, contract specifications, processes, procedures, and performance requirements.
• You have experience with budgeting and finance and skilled at creating and implementing budgets, multi-year and annual work plans, as well as monitoring and reporting on budget allocations.
• You have proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to assess requests for deviations from ministry policies, provide thorough review for approval or refusal of permits and correct infractions using progressive measures.

Communication, Negotiation, and Relationship Management Skills:• You have proven consultation and negotiation skills to positively influence stakeholders to support the organization's goals and initiatives.
• You demonstrate superior written and oral communication skills to articulate strategy, direction, advice, and recommendations with tact and political acuity.
• You have experience building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of diverse internal and external partners.
