Title: Category Manager, Collectibles

Location: Toronto, Canada (but flexible)

Reports to: Head of Collectibles, eBay Canada

Role Overview:

Reporting to the Head of Collectibles for eBay Canada, this position involves driving the collectibles vertical strategy for all Trading Cards and Sports Memorabilia, under the broader Collectibles business.  This will include, amongst other categories, Trading Cards, Collectible Card Games and Sports Memorabilia.  You will work closely with both internal and external partners to make sure eBay has the inventory and on-site experience to grow the business. This category is a major priority for eBay and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to drive this business to the next level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help drive category strategy (including strategic assessment of subcategory opportunities â customers, competitors, market forces, etc.)
  • Develop and implement tactics and plans to build the business
  • Monitor key performance metrics (pricing, inventory, discoverability, customer happiness, gross merchandise volume, etc.) and react to drive business
  • Lead all aspects of performance and business planning for top sellers, buyers, and 3rd party partners
  • Develop solutions to identify new businesses, build a strong pipeline and help with onboarding
  • Drive strategic product, policy, communications, business development, marketing, and inventory initiatives in a holistic manner to improve buyer & seller happiness
  • Drive eBay onsite and offsite event planning with cross functional teams
  • Develop and execute initiatives to fundamentally improve the user experience for our buyers and sellers

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience with growing responsibility in Merchandising, Buying, Category Management/Account Management in an online retail or marketplace environment
  • Prior experience within the Collectibles industry (Comics, stamps, etc.) is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; French fluency desirable
  • Strong attention to detail with the sense of responsibility for the flawless execution of assigned tasks
  • Strong time management skills, including the discipline to get things done in ambiguous situations and the ability to work on multiple projects and navigate multiple partner engagements simultaneously
  • Expert in MS-Excel and fluency with MS-Office and SQL
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Experience in buying and selling on eBay an asset
