Work schedule:
The successful candidate will be available to work every Sunday 0830-16:30 at the Markham Site.
Please note, schedule is subject to change based on operational need.
Compensation:
OPCOMLHRange: $36.43 - $42.52
Responsibilities As a member of a dynamic Interprofessional team, you will be responsible for implementing the three philosophies of Therapeutic Recreation: Functional Intervention, Leisure Education and Recreation Participation. You will work as a collaborative and active member of the team to identify discharge goals and to work with patients and families to achieve these goals. Requirements- Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, or related degree plus a post-graduate Therapeutic Recreation Diploma.
- Current membership with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario.
- A minimum of one year's experience in a health care facility. Previous experience in a rehab and complex continuing care environment is a definite asset.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate quality patient-centred care programs for specific patient populations.
- Knowledge of therapeutic recreation resources available in York Region is an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard.
- Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital-related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
