Recreation Therapist - Crisis Critical Care Unit 7
The Acute Care Program is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Recreation Therapist to work in the Crisis Critical Care Unit 7. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will work with the interprofessional team to promote a holistic leisure lifestyle by contributing to the social, physical, spiritual, emotional and cognitive needs of clients. You will develop, plan, facilitate, schedule, organize and implement various therapeutic recreation programs. This will be accomplished by conducting assessments, developing individual recreation plans, completing patient documentation, skill instruction, development of program goals and objectives, and evaluating a variety of individual and group recreation programs. You will also provide supervision to students. You will have flexibility in scheduling as evening and weekend work may be required. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
The successful candidate must have a degree or diploma in Recreation or Recreation Therapy or a post graduate certificate in Recreation and good working knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and practices combined with one year experience working as a Recreation Therapist. Eligibility for Registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario is required. First Aid, CPR and Management of Aggressive Behaviour training is desirable. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
