We are currently seeking an Immigration Law Clerk to join our firm on a 10-month contract, covering a maternity leave. As an integral member of our team, the Immigration Law Clerk will provide vital support to our lawyers, ensuring the effective management of their practice. The ideal candidate will possess 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, with familiarity in immigration law being an asset. What You Will Be Doing: Drafting and preparing legal documents such as applications, permanent residency forms, and work permits. Organizing and maintaining client files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date. Communicating with government agencies such as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) to track the progress of applications and address any issues. Filing various legal documents with immigration agencies and the court. Act as a liaison between lawyers and internal/external parties, facilitating effective communication on file progression and related matters. Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law including, file opening and closure, docket entries, client list updates, billing coordination, expense processing, and invoice payments in accordance with firm accounting policies. Maintain positive client relationships, addressing client instructions, requests, and expectations promptly. Qualifications: 1-3 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in immigration law preferred but not required. Familiarity with the processes of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), and other relevant bodies considered an asset. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills. Proven ability to work independently with the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Outlook/Word).
