15 Month Contract Opportunity
Are you a creative, engaging and driven communications professional who knows how to deliver impactful internal and external communications? The Manager, Corporate Communications will lead the development of communications to support Sun Life Global Investments, Canadian Finance and Canadian HR businesses. The role requires an experienced communications leader with a strong understanding of how to tell compelling stories to a variety of audiences and navigate efficiently across teams and stakeholders. This individual will have experience executing both employee communications and media relations. The manager will report to the Director of Corporate Communications and will have one direct report.
A creative and driven communications professional who can challenge traditional thinking and successfully execute when it comes to communicating, advancing and promoting our priorities across Sun Life Global Investments, Canadian Finance and Canadian HR businesses. A background in asset management communication and/or financial services communication is preferred.
Provide communications counsel while developing strategies and materials that meet business priorities and are aligned with Sun Life’s Canadian strategy
Build and execute integrated communications plans – both internal and external – finding new, creative and fresh ways to support and promote our businesses
Oversee, write and edit content for the intranet and other employee communications channels
Experience in developing and managing robust media plans and campaigns, with an emphasis on generating earned coverage
Provide advice and support to senior leaders in preparation for employee communications, organizational announcements, town hall events, media interviews and external opportunities
Provide support on issues management, with an emphasis on helping to protect and build Sun Life’s reputation
Coordinate and deliver robust media campaigns including news releases and pro-active pitching to support product announcements and other relevant industry topics
Lead a high-performing team while coaching and mentoring junior team members. Ensure measurements and metrics are in place to review results and effectiveness of communications activities
Exceptional written communications skills including editing, proofreading and attention to detail
Self-starter with the ability to deliver strategic communications plans, desired outcomes and creative ways of communicating
Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and project management skills
Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and produce materials to meet tight deadlines
Ability to confidently counsel senior leaders with positive outcomes
Experience managing and coaching team members to help them grow and develop
Post-secondary education in related field (communications, journalism, public relations)
Minimum 5-7 years experience in corporate communications with experience both internally and externally
Strong understanding of asset management communication and/or the financial services industry
Bilingualism is an asset
