As a Compliance Advisor with Trans Mountain, you will have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of Compliance professionals in the Calgary Head Office.

Reporting to the Manager, Compliance, the Compliance Advisor will be responsible for a variety of duties related to effective implementation, documentation, monitoring and reporting on Trans Mountain’s Integrated Safety and Loss Management System (ISLMS). The incumbent will assist with maintaining and improving document control and records management processes and tools for the ISLMS and supporting key continuous improvement initiatives to mitigate compliance risks. Additionally, this role supports the development of Compliance department communications and training, including emails, meeting presentations, briefing memos, reports, skill packets, agendas and meeting minutes.

  • Leads the development, implementation, maintenance and review of continuous improvement of ISLMS Document Control and Records Management processes.
  • Provides guidance to Operations Departments as the Document Control and Records Management Specialist to ensure the consistent application of processes and systems across the Management System.
  • Chairs a Document and Records Management Committee of Operations SMEs that have tactical responsibility for the implementation of document and records management initiatives.
  • Provides technical writing and document formatting guidance to Operations Departments to ensure high-quality, professional documents are developed and approved for use.
  • Leads the development, configuration, and continuous improvement of the Document Control and Records Management systems (TEDS and TERMS).
  • Leads the development and continuous improvement of the Management of Change system (PIMS).
  • Conducts periodic system reviews and assessments to ensure conformance with requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining and reporting on system effectiveness.
  • Develops and conducts system training, troubleshooting user system issues, working with IT team to address system deficiencies and identifying improvements.
  • Maintains quarterly updates to the Safety and Loss Management Dashboard, working with the Program Managers to summarize the performance results across ~50-60 measures.
  • Facilitates sessions annually with each Department to review current KPIs and develop new/changed measures for the current year.
  • Organizes and maintains Compliance Department, documents, and records, and ensures timely review by document SME and owners.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in compliance-related fields; or management system development and implementation; or training and competency management.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Commerce, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Document and Records Management Principles and Practices.
  • Experience in developing and maintain SharePoint workflows and reporting using PowerBI.
  • Experience in KPI Reporting.
  • Ability to create reports and presentations for various leadership, including Executive Leadership.
  • Comfortable with meeting and workshop facilitation for a variety of audiences.

In Alberta, the existing pipeline system spans the traditional territories of Treaty 6, 7 and 8, and the Métis Nation of Alberta (Zone 4).

In British Columbia, the system crosses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations that are affiliated with the Secwepemc, Dakelh (Carrier), Nlaka'pamux, Syilx/Okanagan, Interior and Coast Salish, Stó:lo, as well as the Métis.

Trans Mountain also operates through 15 First Nation Reserves located within the region spanning the BC interior through Fraser Valley.
