Purpose of Position:
The Post-Collection Field Services Specialist for Recycle BC provides field oversight to key functions within the Recycle BC post-collection network to ensure that operational issues are brought forward and managed expeditiously between Recycle BC and the post-collection service provider’s respective teams. This position is designed to positively affect supply chain results for the overall network while managing and analyzing post-collection aspects of special projects and pilots. This position reports to Manager, Post-Collection and works closely with the post-collection service provider partner as required.
Field oversight and support of post-collection services.
• Oversight of depot material movement to trouble-shoot field issues.
• Oversee the receiving and quality of depot material from Recycle BC’s extensive depot network to have quick liaison between collection and post-collection to resolve issues and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the handling of this material.
•Work with depot hauler network to ensure quality and accuracy of material hauled and reported, as well as efficiency of the network itself.
•Work directly with post-collection service provider on overall depot logistics to find efficiencies and alternative methods of collecting material from the depot network.
• Provide value-added summaries on an ongoing and as needed basis.
•Provide support to the post-collection receiving facility network.
•Provide support to the audit process and oversight of sample collection at receiving facilities.
• Oversee and support glass streams and contamination reduction methodologies.
• Troubleshoot issues such as hauling wait times, contaminated loads, suspected ICI content, general congestion, etc.
• Work with post-collection service provider on logistics-provide a better understanding of the logistics network in the system and how transporters are utilized within the province.
• Project management and oversight for several post-collection projects
• Provide representation for post-collection for internal projects including but not limited to audits, special collection items, etc.
• Coordinate scheduling of material drop off, delivery, processing, and auditing by a third party
Collaboration with other Recycle BC departments.
• Liaison on behalf of Post-Collection team with other internal departments
• Participate in relevant Working Groups and discussions
•Liaise with collection team, and other team members on areas of concerns or other relevant issues
• Data analysis for gathered information
• Provide support for GHG emissions reporting
• Provide support to Western Canada Director, Post-Collection and Material Regeneration with data analysis, management and other duties as assigned
Interpersonal/Communications:
Internal Relationship
•Work closely with Manager, Post-Collection, to inform Manager of supply chain network issues in a timely manner, assist with projects and activities, and help shape annual plans as well as long term supply chain strategy.
•Work closely and provide regular updates to Manager, Post-Collection, to ensure successful day-to-day operations to achieve Recycle BC’s program obligations and objectives.
•Work closely with the Senior Supervisor, Depots and Logistics to ensure smooth operations of material movement.
•This position liaises with respective CM personnel as needed on operational issues and keeps communications open between Recycle BC/CM and the post-collection service provider’s respective teams as issues are brought forward and resolved.
•Collaborate closely with Recycle BC Field Staff on the implementation and management of supply chain initiatives that will require site support.
•Collaborate closely with Recycle BC Operations Support Staff on creating data dashboards or other relevant reports outlining supply chain operations
External Relationships
•Local Governments and First Nations
•Collection and post-collection service providers and their sub-contracted partners as applicable
•This position liaises with each of the Recycle BC post-collection service provider’s working groups to ensure that workflow as it impacts joint activities is optimized and that operational issues are brought forward and managed expeditiously and cooperatively between Recycle BC and the post-collection service provider’s respective teams

•This position is responsible for achieving program plan targets within the approved Recycle BC annual operating plans within the Recycle BC approved budget.

•Day-to-day decisions within the level of responsibility outlined, with the understanding to appropriately escalate to Director, Post-Collection in a timely manner when required.
•Provide input and make recommendations for operational strategies related to the steward ship program.
Education/Skills/Experience/Designations:
Education:
•Post-secondary education related to an engineering background (i.e., industrial or manufacturing engineer), Business Administration, professional designation from a recognized procurement or logistics organization, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
•At least 5-7 years’ experience in education field (as above), operational optimization, waste management or logistics contracting.
Knowledge/Competencies/Skills
•Knowledge of waste management, materials management and logistics or related operational business activities.
•Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
•Good verbal communications skills.
•Excellent relationship management and managerial skills.
•This position will require an individual who is able to communicate well with blue and white collar employees and who is able to work in an environment that is open to the elements, may be dirty and surrounded with heavy machinery and processing equipment.
•Very strong analytical skills and numbers acumen.
Working Conditions:
•Flexible work schedule requiring periods of extended working hours to meet deadlines during peak periods.
•Ability to work in an environment that is open to the elements and may be dirty and surrounded with heavy machinery and processing equipment.
•Requires travel within the province to meet with collection, transportation and processing partners. Valid driver’s license is required.
