The Role

The Food Science Technologist will lead the development of new products and improve existing products and processes by applying contemporary scientific technology. The Technologist will also lead and maintain the Scientific Research & Experimental Development Program (SR&ED) and conduct internal audits of food safety and quality systems.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate for this dynamic role will excel in managing all aspects of product development, from specification development to customer communication. They will work collaboratively to manage the SR&ED program with other departments, conduct internal audits, and support the QA team. Proficiency in food and labeling regulations, process analysis, and manufacturing improvements is essential. Additionally, they will foster a positive work environment, provide support to the Operations team, and evaluate and improve manufacturing processes with a focus on lean manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Food Science or related field required.
  • 2-3 years of Food Research and Development or Quality experience in a food manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of Canadian & US Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work within deadlines.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Versatile with the ability to work individually or within team environments across all levels of management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
