Your new companyHays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a leading Full Service Law firm based in Kitchener, ON. We are currently hiring (x2) Civil Litigation Assistant to join their team on a 12 Month Contract basis, which will be covering a maternity leave. This candidate will be required to work 5 days on-site for the first 3 months of probation. After probation the working model will convert to a hybrid model.Your new rolePreparing legal documents (applications, affidavits and etc.), from written, oral and dictated instructions and precedentsDrafting routine correspondence on behalf of the lawyerFile organization and maintenance of files in various programsMaintaining an effective diary systemScheduling the lawyer's calendarLiaison with clients and opposing Counsel; obtaining information and instructions from clientsEntering dockets and preparing accountsAssisting in management of lawyer’s practice in a team environment to ensure completion of work accurately and within established time frames.Minimum QualificationsA minimum of two (2) years' experience in Civil LitigationExperience using the following programs; ACL (Must-Have), Primafact, LEAP, SpeechLive, Office 365;Strong transcription skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, lawyers and staff;Proficient with the Rules of Civil Procedure;Ability to work in a fast paced high volume environmentMust be organized, thorough and have high attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of team
