Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a leading Full Service Law firm based in Kitchener, ON. We are currently hiring (x2) Civil Litigation Assistant to join their team on a 12 Month Contract basis, which will be covering a maternity leave. This candidate will be required to work 5 days on-site for the first 3 months of probation. After probation the working model will convert to a hybrid model.


Your new role

  • Preparing legal documents (applications, affidavits and etc.), from written, oral and dictated instructions and precedents
  • Drafting routine correspondence on behalf of the lawyer
  • File organization and maintenance of files in various programs
  • Maintaining an effective diary system
  • Scheduling the lawyer's calendar
  • Liaison with clients and opposing Counsel; obtaining information and instructions from clients
  • Entering dockets and preparing accounts
  • Assisting in management of lawyer’s practice in a team environment to ensure completion of work accurately and within established time frames.


Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in Civil Litigation
  • Experience using the following programs; ACL (Must-Have), Primafact, LEAP, SpeechLive, Office 365;
  • Strong transcription skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, lawyers and staff;
  • Proficient with the Rules of Civil Procedure;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced high volume environment
  • Must be organized, thorough and have high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
