Rural Sessional Nursing Instructors, St. Paul/Portage College- Term 5 Fall 2024 & Term 6 Winter 2025
Location: Main Campus
The University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing is seeking Sessional Nursing Instructor to teach undergraduate level clinical courses in the community of Cold Lake, Alberta, for the Fall Semester 2024 and Winter Semester 2025 semesters as follows:
TERM 5 – NURS 489 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices III): Acute Care (med/surg placements)
TERM 6 – NURS 499 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices IV): Chronic Care (med/surg placements)
We are seeking applicants with rural nursing practice in acute care and chronic care environments, particularly those with previous nursing education practice experience. Practice education takes place both on and off campus. Scheduling varies and may include a combination of days and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. Teaching Responsibilities:
Facilitate onsite and remote low to mid-fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Learning Centre
Work effectively with small groups of students on-campus or in off campus settings in acute and chronic (medical/surgical) care environments
Seek excellence in teaching by applying various teaching strategies and working with colleagues
Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students
Application of adult teaching/learning principles
Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation
Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
Computer skills in word processing, email and internet access
