**Position Description**

The University of Calgary, **Faculty of Nursing** is seeking **Sessional Nursing Instructors** to teach undergraduate level clinical courses on within the **Siksika First Nation**, for the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 semesters as follows:
**FALL SEMESTER (September 1 - December 31, 2023)**
- TERM 3: NURS 289 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices I): Community Health

**WINTER SEMESTER (January 1 - April 30, 2024)**
- TERM 4: NURS 389 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices II): Long Term Care

We are seeking applicants with nursing practice experience working with Indigenous peoples in long-term care and community environments, particularly those with previous nursing education practice experience. Practice education takes place both on and off campus. Scheduling varies and may include a combination of days and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. The successful applicants are required to be available during that entire period(s).

**Teaching Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate onsite and remote low to mid-fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Learning Centre at Wainwright Health Center
- Work effectively with small groups of students on-campus or in off campus settings in acute care, chronic care, long-term care or community
- Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance
- Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off campus
- Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice

**Qualifications**:
**Applied Experience**:

- Rural and Indigenous health practice experience related to semester focus
- Experience engaging respectfully with Indigenous Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers
- Broad experience across a variety of areas
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students

**Enhanced Abilities**:

- Application of adult teaching/learning principles
- Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation
- Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Evaluation and promotions of student problem solving and critical thinking
- Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
- Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings
