Our Quality Assurance & Compliance Office is seeking a Quality Assurance & Control Officer to deliver and monitor effective and efficient quality assurance programs for all Bus Fleet & Facilities GO Transit employees for compliance with legislative and/or regulatory requirements and corporate standards to facilitate the safe operation of the GO Transit Bus Fleet.

What will I be doing?

  • As part of continuous improvement, monitors fleet maintenance operations procedures at GO Transit facilities to meet legislative, and corporate standards including but not limited to: Quality Control programs, standard work practises, Emergency Contingency Plans, Inspection processes, and compliance with GO Transit Apprenticeship Programs developed per Skilled Trades Ontario requirements.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, process and documentation audits to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, and documented processes.
  • Supporting root cause analysis of bus mechanical failures to determine best course of remedial action, inclusive of enhanced training of practices, and the use of new technologies and protocols.
  • Conducting safety and public relations programs. 
  • Investigating and providing recommendations relating to GO Transit vehicle traffic collisions where Bus Fleet Maintenance may be required to report.
  • Planning, developing, and implementing technical training programs to promote safety and product knowledge and to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services delivered. 

What skills & qualifications do I need?

  • Completion of a training and apprenticeship program in Automotive Service Technicians (310S) and/or Truck & Coach Technicians (310T) is mandatory.
  • Completion of secondary school with additional vocational or technical training, ideally in the adult training mode - or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent. Having C. Tech or C.E.T credentials would be considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience delivering and monitoring quality assurance programs that facilitate the safe repair of buses and various shop practices. 
  • Training in Quality Management Systems and Auditing would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act and related legislation including Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR), and other legislative and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with creating, administering, and delivering adult training programs, including: facilitating classroom instruction, conducting training needs assessment, and evaluating training programs as it relates to technical and equipment training as mandated by Corporate Policy.
  • Leadership abilities to coach and guide Coach Technicians, Apprentices, and Supervisors.
  • Interpersonal, diplomacy, oral/written/presentation skills to monitor and deliver quality assurance programs.
  • A valid CZ licence would be considered an asset.
  • Ozone Depletion certification, Commercial Vehicle Wheel Service, and OEM technical training course certifications would be an asset.
