Reporting to the Technical Services Operations Manager, the Technical Services Coordinator’s role will be to plan, direct and coordinate operational and project-based activities from inquiry to project closeout primarily in an office setting, but also occasionally to provide project support at a field level. This position is based out of Halifax, NS.

What You will Be Working On
  1. Review drawings, gather project information, study specifications, and interpret technical documentation to create project estimates, schedules, and proposals for commissioning and start-up.
  2. Provide commercial support, such as with regards to reviewing contracts, billing, invoicing, change orders, processing PO’s and reporting on financials etc.
  3. Enter and update project information in our financial database.
  4. Learn Bird’s quality systems and business methodologies.
  5. Interface with customers and work on business development.
  6. Schedule resources, purchase materials, coordinate site project activities.
  7. Knowledge and experience of installation and pre-commissioning of high voltage equipment.
  8. Knowledge and experience of commissioning and testing of all types of equipment systems.
  9. Knowledge and experience to analyze test reports and recommend corrective actions.
  10. Knowledge and experience to calibrate electronic equipment and instruments, when needed.
What We Are Looking For
  1. Technical, electrical and mechanical philosophy know how
  2. Business acumen and knowledge of labor requirements and procedures
  3. Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution or Degree in Electrical Engineering an asset
  4. Minimum of 5 years of experience in field testing and commissioning
  5. Past supervisory experience and leadership skills will be an asset
  6. Familiar with all apparatus found in a power substation
  7. Knowledge and experience with testing software an asset
  8. Competent and comfortable working with computers and spreadsheets
  9. Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  10. Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines
  11. Demonstrate a willingness to work safely and show concern for environmental, health and safety issues in the workplace, and able to work with minimal supervision
