EQ Bank Engineering Team has been advocating building best-in-class branchless digital banking experience to advance millions of Canadians’ personal financial goals since its inception. Engineers in EQ Bank adopt the agile mindset to continually create, test, deploy, improve, and scale banking digital services. Our partnership with Wise, Nesto, Ratehub, Flinks, Borrowell, and Neo Financial has given us top-notch banking consumer insights, and therefore, these insights allow the Engineering Team to build a differentiated and unique digital banking platform. The team is on an 18-to-24-month transformational journey and ready to expand more banking features by growing double-digit team size to triple-digit. The Technical Lead, Software Engineering, Digital Banking ( Core Banking ) is part of the team that will enable EQ Bank’s Challenger Bank aspiration: A banking platform to put the power in customers’ hands. You will use cloud-native technologies and product-centric agile methodologies to manage multiple cross-functional pods dedicated to launching new products, features, and ongoing business value for our digital bank apps.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Engineering, you will help drive forwards the evolution our core banking platform to support our modern, API-driven micro-services architecture using foundational Azure Cloud, DevOps, API, and PaaS services to deliver dozens of production releases per month. You will lead a cross-functional team through all areas of Agile Software Development and will partner closely with Digital Banking Business and Product teams to prioritize and deliver outcome driven solutions. The Technical Lead, Engineering will focus on ensuring feasibility of sprint stories and tasks, code quality and sprint velocity. The incumbent will work closely with the team members to ensure the pod is following agile development principles, including backlog grooming and estimation, sprint planning, code reviews and test automation. The Technical Lead will also be responsible for issue tracking, unblocking engineers and driving forward sprint progress.
As the T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking, you’ll be expected to collaborate with our Products and existing pods by providing technical support in the form of assessment/analysis, integration, development and troubleshoot for our T24 platformassignment types.
The T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking works under direct management and their work is reviewed by the Associate Director, Core Banking.
T24 system under your care is a core banking system with multi-million $ value and the recipient of serious funding investments ongoing by Equitable. The projects that you will be involved in delivering will involve significant dollar values so you will use your experience to make sure everything app related is managed with great diligence, and that Temenos vendor gaps are addressed in a way that does not impeded progress of Equitable’s objectives or day to day work. The position requires the ability to work with a wide range of computer technologies and thus a good understanding of each of our technology elements is important. T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking is expected to be able to perform initial analysis on technical problems, apply fixes based on their technical knowledge, and exercise their judgement to escalate the issue to the Manager of IT and/or the vendor appropriately and promptly.
The objectives provided for project tasks and other technical tasks will be clear and exact but will not be down to step-by-step instructions. The T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking is expected to be able to complete the objectives with self-initiative or go back to the requestor to get more details.
The incumbent is expected to understand and observe IT policies and procedures and work under the direction of the Manager of IT to ensure that they are followed by all staff. The incumbent is expected to think independently, understand the business needs, critically review the business requirements and make design and implementation decisions.
You will ensure work and projects are completed promptly and thoroughly. The incumbent will directly contribute to assessing business needs, designing solutions, and implementing secure and scalable solutions to serve the Bank’s customers and grow the business. They must assist in the identification of opportunities and develop recommendations to minimize risk, improve service capability and reduce costs. They will be required to evaluate problems within their domain to provide expert advice and recommendations for course of action to senior leadership.
Assess business requirements for enhancements or new functions/modules under a technical and functional lens and provide relevant feedback
Interact with Temenos by reviewing technical and integration requirement documents as well as functional/technical specification documents
Communication across all levels of the Temenos organization from executive to system administrator
Control and Manage the life cycle of project bugs and minor enhancements/improvements
Administration and setup of Development and Test environments of Temenos Core Banking Application.
Configuration, Administration & Troubleshooting of T24 multi-server high available architecture.
Interface and coordinate with Temenos for technical support and any issue reported during project lifecycle
Project Execution – perform tasks under the directions of the Manager of IT and/or according to a project plan in a way such that the timeline of the project is observed, and the requirements of the task are satisfied.
Act as a technical reference point for T24 with existing Agile PODs
Design and develop L3 level features for T24 transact, the candidate is responsible of writing code that complies with enterprise guiding principles (i.e. performance, scalability, security) and TEMENOS coding standards.
Follow change control processes soup to nuts
Apply business and technical expertise to ensure cohesive functional & technical delivery
Ensure solutions and delivery will meet the Bank’s needs, this includes performance, scalability and security
Plan and manage the technology delivery of one or more projects/ products
Measure, analyze, and improve delivery metrics (ex: velocities, burn downs, trends, quality, etc.), Solve technical problems; Have a Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science
Have extensive knowledge and expertise of SAFe , retail modules (especially, Account Arrangement), and web service modules (including TWS, TCIB, & IRIS)
Preferred experience with T24 Canadian Mobile Banking
Preferred experience working in a Canadian banking or regulated financial services environment
Preferred experience in Database administration .
Comprehensive deep domain knowledge in Lending and/or Online Retail Banking
Robust understanding of Cloud deployments type and service models .
The incumbent is expected to interact with everyone including executives and thus good verbal and written skills are important. Hands-on problem-solving skills to remove technical issues
Ability to organize and coordinate senior resources with cross-functional skillsets, and play nice with the team
