We are looking for a skilled AWS Database Specialist to join our team.
You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing database solutions on Amazon Web Services.
You will work closely with our development, architecture, and operations teams to ensure the availability, performance, and security of our database systems.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as an **AWS Database Specialist or similar role**:

- In-depth knowledge of database technologies and architectures, including relational databases (e.g., **MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB)**:

- Hands-on experience with AWS database services such as **RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, GLUE, etc.**:

- **Experience with data migration and integration projects on AWS**:

- Proficiency in database administration tasks such as performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management
- Familiarity with database design principles, normalization, and indexing strategies
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols relevant to database connectivity
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills

**Preferred**:

- AWS certification such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty
- Experience with database automation and infrastructure as code tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for database deployment and managemen**t**

**Responsibilities**:

- Design, implement, and maintain database solutions on AWS using services such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Redshift, etc.
- Evaluate and recommend database technologies and architectures based on project requirements and performance considerations
- Configure and optimize database instances for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Implement and manage database replication, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
- Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues related to performance, availability, and security
- Implement security best practices for database access control, encryption, and compliance with industry standards
- Document database design, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Toronto, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON
