We are seeking a Specialist, Database Administrator & Integration to join any of our Ontario offices (Toronto, Vaughan, Waterloo or London) .

Overseeing an integrated framework of overall IT, the Enterprise Architecture & Security team is responsible for defining, designing, build & overseeing overall IT Strategy, Enterprise Architecture, Governance & Security including Datacenter, Cloud, Networks, End Users devices, application platforms, Databases, Data Integrations, & Application & systems services delivery.

The Specialist, Database Administrator & Integration supports Firm operations through the rigorous management of all SQL Server instances, various data integrations & architecture, data analysis & reporting, as well as databases platforms across all departments and practices. Also Manages data, infrastructure and resource lifecycles, including capacity and succession planning as well as performs routine monitoring, testing and troubleshooting of all supported database infrastructure to maintain high availability and optimal performance levels. Maintains support documentation on all active database instances, as well as installation and operating procedure documentation.

The Specialist, Database Administrator & Integration should possess proven expertise in Data Architecture, Database Administrations, integration, analysis, & reporting as well as database & application architectural designing, operations, delivery & management preferably in Legal Industry. This include expertise in business requirement gathering & analysis, capacity planning, trend & root cause analysis, project management, remediation planning, as well as in problem, incident, and change management. At this lead level, it is expected that the candidate has chosen this area as their career focus and have committed to professional development and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor all production SQL Server instances for optimal performance, addressing issues directly or via escalation as appropriate to circumstance. Enrich monitoring through systematic addition of detail on monitored queries and processes to monitoring solutions;
Optimize database growth and index performance by ensuring appropriate maintenance plans are in place and operating normally on all production instances. Also Review database backup operations to ensure consistent completion and availability of restore points;
Maintain high-level documentation of all production instances configurations, licensing, operating relationships and dependencies, and workflow. Also Review and refine security model applied to all production, test and development instances, ensuring best balance of information protections and operating efficiency;
Participate in ongoing and project-based activity as required, serving as senior resource on all database operations. Review and recommend/approve on all requests from internal or external parties regarding enterprise database operations;
Conduct periodic reviews of resource utilization to inform instance lifecycle management and annual resource planning;
Review and draw together all existing data integration operations to central integration/workflow platform to ensure central management going forward. Participate in integration/workflow platform development efforts, representing database operations and data flow.

What you'll bring:

University degree /diploma in Computer Science or related information technology;
Minimum of 7 years of IT experience, 3 years of which in a Senior level Role designing and implementing Database Architecture, Database Integrations, Data analysis & reporting Solutions, and Application Integration after analyzing & gathering Business requirements preferably in Legal Industry;
Knowledge of designing, implementation, and management of SQL Clustering, High Availability (HA) and (DR) options for SQL;
Experience implementing operational automation using scripts (PowerShell, T-SQL, VB Scripts, etc.);
Experience in ETL design, strategy and associated processes as well as in PowerBI, Analytics, SSIS and Other ETL Tools;
In-depth knowledge of relational objects such as tables, stored procedures, triggers and DTS/SSIS packages is required along with experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting of queries, stored procedures, and SSIS packages;
Experience Indexing for performance (index maintenance and statistics, index usage analysis, etc.);
Experience in one or more development platforms, including .NET, Visual Basic, Visual C++, Java, SharePoint, Lotus Notes/Domino;
Experience in designing solutions for data warehouse system integrations;
Experience building integrated systems from on-premise to cloud-based infrastructures;
Develop, maintain, & improve processes for deploying Power BI reports & dashboards;
Experience working with software & service vendor resources, and managing scope and activity on professional service engagements;
Familiarity with the software development life cycle (SDLC) model and one or more application development methodologies (i.e. Agile, Waterfall, etc.);
Possess broad range of legal industry applications & related security & operational knowledge (application management, monitoring, troubleshooting, security & access controls, database administration, backup & recovery, DR, BCP etc.) & systems development life cycle management experience in multiple technological platforms;
Senior-level experience with business requirements gathering & analysis, process and policy development/enforcement with a vision and strategy for continual improvement and Enterprise Governance for all Line of business (LOB) applications;
Proficiency in the use of PowerShell and Scripting languages;
Knowledge of Aderant, IntApp, Iridium and iManage will be an asset;
Knowledge of Incident Management, Security Analysis & reporting, Risk management and business awareness and end-user training.
