As the Educator/Coordinator for Critical Care, you will advance the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the province-wide Critical Care Education Program, educating newly hired RNs and LPNs. You will report to the Director of Clinical Education Transition, within the Associate Chief Nursing Office (ACNO) and can be located anywhere in Alberta. You will support best practices in Critical Care education and the provincial delivery of Critical Care education in close collaboration with the Critical Care Strategic Clinical Network and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Educators across the province. You will coordinate a standardized approach for Critical Care education that results in quality outcomes for safe patient care; work closely with site-based/provincial educators and managers across the province and be responsible for leveraging available educational opportunities and efficiencies; create and refine educational resources; oversee comprehensive measures of education effectiveness, advance improvements in standardization; provide change management and communicate with key stakeholders. CTE is a dynamic remote team working from multiple sites across Alberta. The location of this position is negotiable within the province.

Description:

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Additional Required Qualifications:

RN. Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) Certification in Critical Care. Master of Nursing or Education or equivalent. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Critical Care Instructor or Clinical Nurse Educator role. Wide scope of experience in clinical education including education development, delivery, and coordination, as well as mentorship of learners and other educators. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. Knowledge in critical care including hemodynamic principles, ECG interpretation, mechanical ventilation, patient and family centered care, delirium, and sepsis. Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical Nurse Specialist experience. Strong knowledge of technology enabled education development and implementation. Practical experience of education program implementation in a health authority. Change management experience or expertise. Knowledge or experience working in pediatric and/or neonatal intensive care unit an asset. Preferred CNA certification in Critical Care Pediatric and/or Neonatal.
