About the position

The Development Officer, Events (Production & Logistics) provides support for our signature and third-party fundraising event portfolios in a hybrid work environment. The role is responsible for looking at ways to enhance the participant and donor experience and helping to ensure the success of the following events:

  • Breakfast to Remember is a collection of three fundraising breakfasts held annually in February and March in Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria. These events see business and community leaders come together to gain inspiration on how to play a role in changing the future for those living with dementia.
  • Charity Dinner for Alzheimer’s is a fundraising event held annually in February for like-minded philanthropists, organizations and community leaders to get together for an inspirational evening.
  • Climb for Alzheimer’s is a one-day mass-participation fundraising event held annually in September, which sees participants hike up Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver to raise awareness and funds.
  • The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is the Society’s largest fundraising event, held annually on the last Sunday in May. Hosted in communities across the province, this one-day mass-participation event sees more than 2,000 participants walk in their community to raise awareness and funds.
  • Telethon for Alzheimer’s is an 80-minute fundraising program broadcast across Canada, hosted annually in the fall. It features a variety of stories, interviews, caregiver experiences, research updates and information about Alzheimer Society of B.C. programs and support services.
  • The Forget Me Not Golf Tournament is the Society’s largest third-party fundraising event, held annually in May. This year marked the event’s 30th anniversary.

This role reports to the Associate Director, Events, Resource Development.

Title: Development Officer, Events (Production & Logistics)

Salary range: $55,000 to $60,000

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week

Location: Location- Hybrid/Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead production and logistics for our signature and third-party fundraising event portfolios.
  • Provide support in setting targets and developing and monitoring plans to reach annual event goals.
  • Lead backend development of event websites and associated platforms, including website builds, updates and ongoing maintenance.
  • Ensure online registration and fundraising tools are working efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead in creating, collating and analyzing backend reports from event websites and associated platforms.
  • Lead full review and assessment of event websites and associated platforms in order to determine best platform(s) to utilize for ongoing growth of event portfolios.
  • Prepare and implement event venue logistics, including site maps, guest lists and seating plans.
  • Liaise with suppliers and vendors (e.g. venue, food and beverage, audio visual, etc.) to confirm logistical requirements.
  • Provide support in the creation of marketing materials, including coordination of the design and production of event collateral materials such as signage, programs, etc.
  • Participate in Walk Chair Training weekend (two half days mid-November).
  • Attend all signature fundraising events as onsite production and logistics lead.
  • Customer service liaison, ambassador for the Society and communications contact for event participants and donors.
  • Other duties as required to meet the needs of the role in relation to organizational goals.

About you

You have a post-secondary education or relevant degree in a related discipline. You are detail-oriented with exceptional problem-solving, planning and organizational skills. You are excited about the opportunity to work closely with a team of colleagues, supporting a number of different fundraising events each year. You are a production and logistics expert with an eye to the future — developing, implementing and executing ideas to keep events feeling fresh and new.

Key Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and growing production and logistics for in-person and online fundraising events.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of event execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); comfortable working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and as a team member; flexible and able to work under pressure.
  • Analytical and strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines and respond positively to change.
  • A high level of creativity, flexibility and ability to innovate.
  • As a customer service liaison and ambassador for the Society, able to utilize problem solving skills and interact with all stakeholders with skill, tact, discretion and compassion.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent project coordination and organizational skills.

Technical Qualifications

  • Proficient with databases (Raiser’s Edge) and online fundraising platforms (Luminate, Raisin).
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Asana (project management software) is an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to work some evenings, weekends and early mornings.
  • Must have regular access to a vehicle and a valid B.C. driver’s license.
