Senior Officer, Events

Are you a motivated and innovative problem-solver looking for a challenging role in fundraising and events? We are seeking a Senior Officer, Events to join our team at the BC SPCA.

About the Role

This is a full-time, permanent position based out of our Provincial Office in Vancouver. As Senior Officer, Events, you will lead all planning and execution for various fundraising and stewardship events, with a primary focus on the Offleashed Vancouver Gala. You will also support our Offleashed Victoria Gala, two Fur Balls, and other events around the province.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning and execution for the annual Offleashed Vancouver Gala, including fundraising strategy, programmatic elements, logistics, timelines, budgeting, sponsor structure and recognition, donor stewardship, and communications and marketing.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team and event committees to optimize relationship-building opportunities and grow support for Offleashed Vancouver.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry peers and maintain a commitment to continued education, learning, and innovation.
  • Supervise and mentor the Development Assistant, Events.

Requirements
  • Post-secondary education plus 5-8 years of experience in fundraising and events, or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer.
  • A thorough understanding of events and fundraising strategy, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, monitoring, and analyzing annual plans and budgets, managing vendor relationships and fundraising volunteers, providing formal and informal guidance and training to colleagues and volunteers, and working in a self-directed environment.
