Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Controls Cost Lead is responsible for working closely with the operations team and will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the cost control processes, budget management, and financial analysis for our industrial construction projects.
While not directly assigned to specific projects, you will be responsible for the project set-up and managing the project controls personnel on various projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project cost management within the industrial construction space, possess exceptional analytical and leadership skills, and excel at guiding and coordinating teams across multiple projects.

Control Oversight, by developing and maintaining standardized cost control systems and procedures to be implemented across various projects.
Control Oversight by ensuring consistency in cost control practices and methodologies used by project controls personnel on different projects.
Control Oversight by collaborating with project controls teams to monitor project budgets, expenses, and cash flow.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Oversee the preparation of regular cost reports, variance analysis, and financial forecasts for ongoing projects.
Provide high-level financial analysis to support decision-making processes and improve project performance.
Review and validate financial updates and cost-related information presented by project controls teams.
Support the project teams with cost management analysis for internal Profit and Loss Quarterly reporting.

Team Management and Coordination:
Lead a team of project controls professionals responsible for different projects, providing guidance, mentoring, and training to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment within the project controls department, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement.
Interface with clients and business unit directors to ensure the required deliverables are being met, including monthly/period reports and project reviews.

Project Set-Up and Support:
Collaborate with project managers and estimators during the project initiation phase to ensure accurate project budgeting and cost control strategies.
Assist in project set-up activities, including defining (WBS) work breakdown structure, cost codes, cost structures, and financial reporting requirements.
Responsibility to manage the set up of project PM system with related cost, qty, hrs data, while ensuring alignment with estimate.
Participate in project support team activities and periodic audits of processes to ensure contractual and procedural compliance.

Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cost control processes across all projects.
Stay Updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to project cost management.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in project cost management within the industrial construction sector.
Experience on large infrastructure projects is preferred.
Experience within EPC projects or leading project controls in engineering or design projects is preferred.
Proficiency in project cost control software and tools (such as Primavera, Procore, 4castplus, InEight, or equivalent).
Experience in budget, commitment and Earned Value Management (EVM).
Understand the fundamentals around procurement, subcontracts, and payroll.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
Strong Leadership experience, including the ability to motivate and coordinate teams across multiple projects.
Excellent Computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Suite, with a focus on excel, and Power BI.
ACCEI CCP (Certified Cost Professional) certification would be considered an asset.
Deep understanding of project management methodologies and standards (PMBOK, Agile, etc.) is an asset.
