**Key Responsibilities**:

- Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and financial reporting.
- Perform biweekly functions related to payroll.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Lead month end closing processes.
- Prepare year-end documentation for external accountants.
- CRA reporting and submissions.
- WCB yearly return and review.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset including work in progress, progress invoices, statutory declarations and more.
- Prepare monthly financial statements representing the entire company, as well as segmented reports by site location.
- Drive process improvements and efficiency enhancements to streamline workflows and optimize resource utilization.
- Stay informed of accounting standards, regulations and industry developments to ensure adherence to best practices and legal requirements.
- Actively participate in accounting tasks alongside managerial responsibilities.

**Additional Key Responsibilities**:

- **Budget Management**: Develop and manage the company’s budget in collaboration with department heads and senior management. Monitor budget variances and provide regular reports to the team.
- **Financial Analysis**: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities and potential areas for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- **Tax Compliance**: Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, including income tax, sales tax and payroll tax. Coordinate with external tax advisors and prepare necessary filings.
- **Cash Flow Management**: Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company’s financial stability, implement effective cash management strategies, including forecasting and working capital management.
- **Monthly Financial Reporting**: Prepare and distribute accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements. Customize reports as needed for different stakeholders.
- **Financial Systems Improvement**: Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems and processes. Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency enhancements.
- **Vendor Managemen**t: Manage relationships with key vendors, negotiate contracts and ensure timely payments. Optimize vendor relationships to achieve cost savings.
- **Training and Development**: Provide training and guidance to accounting staff, fostering their professional growth, and ensuring that they adhere to best practices and compliance standards.
- **Ad hoc Projects**: Undertake special financial projects and analysis as needed. These projects may include cost benefit analysis, financial modelling and strategic planning.
- **Collaboration**: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align financial goals with overall company objectives.
- **Process Documentation**: Document accounting and financial processes, ensuring that they are well documented and accessible to team members.
- **Project Management Reporting**: At Muth Electrical Management Inc. we are continually working on providing reports and systems to assist project managers to have better analyses on their areas of oversight. A proponent who can demonstrate past experiences in adapting, changing and enhancing reporting functions utilizing Sage accounting system would be strongly desired.

**Key Qualifications**:

- Expertise in Sage accounting software an asset.
- Proven experience in construction accounting, including familiarity with work in progress, progress invoices, Statutory Declarations and schedule of values invoicing.
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage all aspects of accounting.
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to work constructively and collaboratively with all staff, customers and vendors.
