Summary

Reporting directly to the Director, Distribution and Wholesale Operations, this individual and her/his team will be responsible for maintaining efficient operations of the Montreal Distribution center, as well has cumulating the regional management of the Quebec distribution and wholesale operations. 

The incumbent of this role will, organize, manage, and control all the operations of the Montreal Distribution Center (DC) that deliver parts to 13 warehouses in Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic provinces.

She/he will use, monitor, develop and analyze a suite of KPI’s to ensure the optimal operations of the Montreal DC, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to constantly increase the efficiency of the Montreal DC, as well as the 3 Quebec warehouses (Montreal, Boucherville and Québec city) by optimizing financial, physical, system and human resources. 

Her/his modern and agile leadership, seasoned skillset, and highly collaborative spirit are key to excel in such a role, carefully balancing the DC operations, as well as the oversight of the Quebec region, while collaborating with internal and external collaborators, suppliers, and customers.

The incumbent will need to establish clear, achievable, and stretch objectives, daily, weekly, and yearly for her/his direct reports, both at the DC as well as the regional level. This role demands a highly professional individual, with modern and engaging people quality.

Responsibilities

• Understand and improve the Montreal Distribution Center operations through the monitoring, improvement, analysis of key performance indicator in supplying the 13 warehouses in the Eastern parts of the country, which in turn must timely supply inventory to a network of Service Centers (corporate, franchisee and independent stores):
  • In collaboration with the Director of Distribution and Wholesale Operations, as well as other optimization managers, participate in the development of the Montreal DC optimization strategies, process improvement and standardized business processes.
  • Constantly improve the financial performance of the Montreal DC by establishing the budgets for the Montreal DC, monitoring manpower, expenditures, and other performance metrics, explaining variances and correcting course as needed.
  • Act diligently to monitor, cycle count, and improve inventory accuracy in her/his distribution network.
  • Must minimize all damages, breakage, inventory shortages and returns for all Quebec warehouses and the Montreal DC.

• Provide leadership and motivation to all employees under her/his responsibility in a positive and collaborative atmosphere that supports all key quadrants: people, customer, society, and stakeholder, with a transformational mindset:
• As a member of the Distribution Operations Leadership Team, she/he would participate in discussions with relevant stakeholders, engage other departmental leaders, share her/his insight related to her/his area of responsibility, ask for support and assistance.
• Plan, organize, supervise the manpower of the Montreal DC, the virtual Montreal Warehouse, as well as the Quebec and Boucherville warehouses.
• Directly manage, supervise, coach and nurture a group of supervisors/managers to runs the Montreal DC or Warehouses
• Focuses on health, safety, and wellbeing of employees.
• Must establish a culture of performance, based on productivity, teamwork, quality, accuracy, and customer focus.
• Inspire, develop, and engage a diverse and capable team while developing and building tangible development plans, training programs, coaching and succession planning.

• In a very collaborative organization, this incumbent is a person who can navigate well internally, engage different stakeholders from the supply chain group, both on the procurement, inventory planning and distribution network, but also all other partners from the rest of the organization (People and Culture, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Retail Operations, IT, …).

• Actively involved in the performance of the Quebec region in terms of wholesale distribution to corporate and franchisee service centers as well as sales to Independent Service Providers (ISP), the Customer focus mindset is vital in the role:
  • Must monitor, understand, and improve the performance of this regional warehouses (Montreal, Quebec and Boucherville) in supplying in the timeliest fashion all Service Centers within the Quebec region, accountable for Gross margins and Target Profit
  • Accountable for optimizing all deliveries and routes to achieve the most performing distribution while minimizing costs.
  • Indirectly manages an optimize a group of Customer Service Representative that support the whole Quebec region.
  • Is the go-to person when ISP, or Sales, escalate opportunities or issues with deliveries in Quebec.

• Must closely manage inbound logistics from the various procurement entry points (port, rail, or road) and closely manage and avoid outside storage:
  • Is involved closely with the Supply Chain team, as well as transportation and logistics, to minimize the impact at the receiving for the Montreal DC.
  • Must source, manage and minimize the usage of outside storage by load-leveling receiving of supplier arrivals.

Qualifications

• Approximately 15 years of overall business experience with approximately 10 years in supply chain and distribution with increasing levels of responsibilities. Experience in a position with a national organization would be considered an asset to the role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Operations Management (Business/Commerce).
• Perfectly fluent in both English and French, spoken and written.
