Our client, The Bethania Group, is seeking a dedicated and resourceful Human Resource Coordinator to join their team.

Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Coordinator will be responsible for supporting all Human Resource functions, advising managers and directors in HR practices to ensure smooth and efficient business operations. The HR Coordinator will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities and will assist in the planning and facilitation of several key functions such as staffing, training and development, employee relations, safety and health, and compensation and benefits.

The HR Coordinator will have flexibility with work hours, be a quick learner with knowledge of complex HR situations, be able to work independently with initiative and also as part of a team, and will have a caring, understanding disposition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and participate in:
    • The impartial hiring process for all incoming personnel to ensure consistency and equity
    • The development of Job Descriptions and Evaluation Systems for all employees
    • A training and continuing education schedule for all employees
  • Participates with managers in the recruitment and selection process.
  • Coordinate with insurance/benefit providers and employees
  • Participate and provide advice on legislation and regulations, monitor and track grievances/complaints between employees and management
  • Maintain databases of evaluations, attendance, training, applications, etc. and prepare reports and analysis
  • Collaborate with Director of HR and other staff on special projects; provide research and statistical information for development of procedures, policies, and reports.
  • Review employee complaints, document concerns and issues, identify and clarify problems, assist with investigations, facilitate mediation meetings.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Completion of the Human Resource Management Certificate Program or BA with Major in HR/Business Administration
  • Knowledge of relevant Acts and employment law, Federal & Provincial legislation, Employment Standards
  • Training and experience leading investigations
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, collaborate, and work cooperatively across a multi-site organization
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize in a changing environment
  • Must handle confidential matters with discretion
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license; able to travel
  • 3-8 years’ experience in employee and labour relations is an asset
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with multiple contracts is an asset
