If you are currently residing at Iqaluit, you are also eligible for a federal government housing. This can range from $26,770 to $44,616 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.
Employees must perform their duties from the regional office located at Iqaluit, Nunavut. Successful candidates will be required to work at the work site. To ensure compliance of project sites against various Acts and Legislation.
• Plan field inspections throughout the Qikiqtani region of Nunavut.
• Conduct field inspections.
• Collect grab samples of water in targeted areas and send to an accredited lab following a chain of custody procedure for analysis.
• Travel to remote locations within jurisdiction.
• Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada Field Operations Office is a small office located in the Government of Canada building at 969 Federal Road in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Our staff are a tight knit group of individuals who share a common goal to protect Nunavut’s land and water resources for the preservation and future use for generations to come. Currently, Field Operations is comprised of one (1) geographic informatics systems (GIS), one (1) administrator, and four (4) inspectors positions in the Iqaluit office.
Inspectors are typically in the field from May to August and are responsible for ensuring compliance with all water use and land use authorizations throughout Nunavut. Immediate need: One (1) full-time indeterminate position at Iqaluit, NU.
This process will be used to fill current vacancies and to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities (Deployment, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Term or Indeterminate) in Nunavut only, with various security requirements (reliability or secret).

The following criteria will be assessed using your resume and the online screening questions. To be selected, you must demonstrate when, where and how you acquired each of the qualifications by giving concrete examples. A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. • Experience providing advice and briefing on environmental programs or projects.
• Experience in Environmental inspections or field work.
• Experience in collaborating with officials from the federal government, provincial/territorial governments, Indigenous groups, municipalities, or industry on environmental protection issues.

Don't hesitate to apply and to indicate it when answering the online question. • Experience conducting inspections at mineral exploration and/or mine sites within Nunavut.
Knowledge of pollution and pollution control techniques. • Ability to conduct inspections in extreme conditions or at remote sites across Nunavut.

Firearm Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).
• Ability and willingness to travel on small aircrafts, helicopters, boats, snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles.
• Ability and willingness to travel from home base for extended periods.
• Ability and willingness to work outdoors.
• Medical clearance established for the position.
• Valid driver's license (minimum Nunavut Class 5 or equivalent).
