Tree Island Steel operates in Canada under Tree Island Industries Ltd and in the United States under Tree Island Wire (USA) Inc.

JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Assistant provides support and office clerical services for Operations and Maintenance groups with the management of inventory systems, including physical inventory cycle counts, inventory adjustments, inventory transfers, and overall operations administration duties.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support for Operations, on day-to-day operations of the site, including updating of crew lists, time off processing, and workflow assignment changes on the payroll system.
  • Establish and maintain work procedures and safe work practices for the Operations Team.
  • Develop job procedures for operator equipment and operating procedures for machines, while supporting the creation of quality and process documents by Quality/Engineering to meet the ISO certification requirements.
  • Ensure the receipt of goods and control inventory, and process purchase documentation within the QAD system.
  • Reconcile cycle counts and production tag use-up transactions provided by the operations supervisor.
  • Organize and manage records for Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Filing and control of incoming DO’s and PO’s on Wire/Rod, Maintenance parts and consumables in QAD.
  • Enter purchase requisitions, receive packing slips into QAD, and print receiving reports.
  • Assist supervisor in consumable inventory ordering on non-auto order supplies and sustain adequate inventory level for manufacturing departments.
  • Provide backup and vacation coverage for the Production Supervisor.
  • Maintain security database and issue gate cards.
  • Procure office supplies, receive deliveries, and manage office supply equipment, including maintenance and repairs through communication with vendors.
  • Receive courier deliveries and notify supervisor and maintenance of arrival.
  • Responsible for daily payroll updates, employee hours verification, and coordination of concerns with the payroll team.
  • As required, set up new Vendor codes working in conjunction with Finance.
  • Apply GL and codes to Vendor Invoices, file and send documentation to Finance.
  • All other duties as required by the Plant Manager/Supervisor.

SCHEDULE

  • Hours of work Monday – Friday with Saturdays required when production demands dictate. (Split shift days/afternoon coverage)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of office administration and production (preferably production-based).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and QAD or similar software
  • Excellent data entry skills and detail oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
