HR Coordinator – Permanent Full-Time

Position summary:

The Human Resources Coordinator takes an active role in the implementation, coordination, and delivery of corporate human resources programs. The role will provide guidance and support on new human resources initiatives and developing recruitment and retention strategies that are aimed at fostering employee engagement, with the goal of building organizational effectiveness for future hospital development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supports the Human Resources department, and the management team, to ensure Human Resources programs are administered and implemented in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports from the HRIS as required for the proper administration and implementation of human resources programs and initiatives.
  • Gathers and screens resumes or applications received from internal and external candidates.
  • Ensures all resumes are maintained in accordance with Hospital guidelines and conducts telephone pre-screening of selected candidates as required.
  • Books interviews, prepares interview package for interview panel and administers position specific competency testing as required.
  • Gathers, maintains, and files all candidate testing and interview panel notes.
  • Prepares offers of employment letters and contacts successful candidates to offer employment and provide details regarding status, compensation, required documentation, pre-employment health review, and criminal reference checks as required.
  • Ensures the recruitment process adheres to applicable laws, policies and collective agreements.
  • Prepares bi-weekly report indicating employee’s eligible for wage progression
  • Ensures salary administration is consistent with Collective Agreements and Hospital Policy and with regard to similar positions in the health care environment.
  • Participate in and conducts market analysis of appropriate positions and advises managers and staff appropriately on compensation policies.
  • Actively participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement/Risk Management Program

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and related Human Resources experience
  • HRPA member in good standing preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of general human resources experience.
  • Human Resources experience in a hospital environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of QHR is considered an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows Operating System, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and discretion, along with good judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to develop rapport with all levels of staff.
  • Evaluates own needs for personal and professional development to maintain high level of competence and practice.
  • Statistical and report analysis and asset.
