We are looking for a strategic CPA with a strong background in the finance side of a legal or professional services practice. This role will play a pivotal role in their continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership:
    Lead the financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with strategic objectives. Oversee the preparation, review, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to executive leadership.
  • Tax Strategy & Compliance:
    Develop and manage tax strategies, ensuring compliance with all regulations while optimizing tax efficiency. Lead tax planning and reporting efforts, and oversee the work of external tax consultants.
  • Operational & Financial Oversight:
    Direct the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure robust internal controls and accurate financial results.
  • Audit & Compliance Management:
    Oversee internal and external audit processes, ensuring strong internal controls, compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards, and continuous improvements in financial accuracy and transparency.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative, growth-focused environment. Empower the team to excel in a fast-paced, growth-oriented setting, maintaining high standards of excellence and accountability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with senior leaders in the firm to support key business initiatives and enhance operational efficiency. Provide insights and recommendations to drive strategic financial decisions.

Qualifications:

  • CPA Designation:
    Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Experience in Professional Services/Legal firm - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Technical Expertise:
    Financial reporting standards, GAAP/IFRS, and best practices in financial governance.
  • Leadership Skills:
    Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering growth and maintaining a culture of accountability.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking:
    Strong analytical skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and optimizing financial performance.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial concepts to diverse audiences and building strong cross-functional relationships.
