Reporting to the Vice Provost, the Dean of the Digital Innovation is responsible for providing exceptional academic leadership and ensuring academic program quality. Within the portfolio, the Dean will provide strategic vision for the Faculty of Digital Innovation to offer future-focused programs that prepare our graduates for success in their field of specialization. 

By implementing a clear and concise strategic plan, the Dean will drive initiatives that meet labour market demands, manage resources, and ensure fiscal viability of the Schools. Encouraging excellence in teaching, fostering and supporting research and inspiring staff of the four Schools to ensure a positive and productive working environment are key to achieving success in this position. The Dean is responsible for relationship building with other Schools and departments within Saskatchewan Polytechnic and with external stakeholders at the local, provincial, and national level. The incumbent will also work closely with Continuing Education to proactively identify areas of new program offerings and revenue generation.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a collegial and consultative leader and administrator with outstanding communication and relationship building skills and will possess a distinguished academic record. The next Dean will possess educational credentials and career experience and achievements that indicate the candidate is a leader within both the institution and the community and will have experience working and leading within a complex environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service, and will also have the ability to set priorities; to understand budget processes; make effective and fair use of resources; and to lead the development of effective process and policy. As a leader, the new Dean will have the ability to work with colleagues to articulate a shared vision, and the ability to motivate and inspire people to make this vision a reality. They will bring strong interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to listen well and to all voices.

Experience and Qualifications

The next Dean, Faculty of Digital Innovation should possess:

  • A graduate degree in a related field
  • A history of senior-level leadership, although an equivalent combination of relevant education and industry-related experience will also be considered
  • A proven track record in leading innovation, as well as developing and leading high-performing teams within a post-secondary education environment
  • Direct experience in and/or responsibility for academic excellence, leadership development and innovation
  • Experience in applied research considered an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership success in a diverse and inclusive environment
