The Account Manager (Regional) is responsible for identifying and pursuing opportunities with both new and existing customers to sell Consumer Products. The incumbent asks customers the right questions in order to understand their transportation needs and match these to CN’s service delivery capabilities. Moreover, the incumbent needs to stay abreast of competitive developments in the customers’ markets and pursue opportunities for growth.
Handle all commercial aspects of a portfolio of several key customers
· Develop account growth strategies for customers and maintain existing relationships
· Collaborate with Operations personnel to identify available capacity for opportunistic selling to improve overall yield and asset utilization
· Cross-sell the full suite of CN Transportation services
· Address any potential service issues proactively with Operations personnel
· Handle contract renewals and regular negotiations
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Sales or Marketing
· Minimum 3 years of experience in sales or marketing, preferably within transportation and logistics services
o Experience with major contract negotiations
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Finance or Business Administration, or possess an equivalent designation
Technical Skills/Knowledge
· Understanding of rail or other transportation services
· High level of computer knowledge and Microsoft Office
The Account Manager, Supply Chain Sales follows guidelines for pricing and marketing to provide the best overall results for the company ensuring revenue and volume growth. The role ensures processes are followed, sets standards, and works closely with Legal and Operations to find solutions that are cost-effective and practical for CN and its customers.
The Account Manager, Supply Chain Sales interacts with individuals internal and external to CN. Within the organization, the incumbent liaises with all internal business functions and with various senior level employees. Outside of CN, the role communicates with customers, suppliers, representatives from other Class 1 railroads, and ports.
The Account Manager, Supply Chain Sales reports to the Director, Sales and has no supervisory responsibility.
