Reporting to the VP Finance and Corporate Services, the Director, Policy and Strategic Planning is accountable for guiding and assisting the development and review of NHC’s legislation and policies, briefings, and decision-making documents. The Director provides leadership in department-wide strategic planning, including the collection, recording and analysis of information on housing and is responsible for coordinating information for the Minister, President and CEO, and Board of Directors to represent the Corporation.


The Director supports informed decision making, alignment of plans and activities, organized and effective planning and policy structures, and effective corporation communications. The position also serves as an integral function with regards to the Corporation's crisis management structure and the management of NHC's reputation overall.


The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are usually obtained through an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Public or Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field. The candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the policy field, which should include policy development and analysis, strategic planning, communications and public relations, crisis management including three (3) years of progressive managerial experience.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
