Job Summary

The Head of Projects – EV Charging Infrastructure will lead the project management team at LeadingAhead Energy. This role involves overseeing the design, planning, execution, and completion of EV charging infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. This is a chance to be part of a fast growing company and be part of building its future. The Head of Projects will be reporting to the President and Director of Operations.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of project managers.
  • Develop and implement project management best practices, standards, and processes.
  • Build a scalable Project Management department to support growth for nationwide and international expansion.
  • Lead the expansion into new markets in the US.
  • Lead the deployment of new technologies, including battery storage and renewable energy integration.


Project Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the management of the EV charging infrastructure projects 
  • Monitor and report on the status of all projects, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines, budget constraints, client expectations and quality standards.


Team Development and Management

  • Mentor and develop the project management team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Implement a comprehensive training plan and track key performance indicators such as project completion time and resource allocation.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  • Set and manage team-wide goals to drive culture, performance, and accountability.
  • Celebrate milestones and promote a positive team culture.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for major project-related matters with senior management, clients, and suppliers.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with clients and suppliers.


Financial and Resource Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial control and accountability.
  • Allocate resources efficiently across projects.
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify areas for improvement in processes, efficiency, and team profitability.
  • Implement strategies to optimize operations and present improvement initiatives to senior management.


Quality and Risk Management

  • Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet the highest standards.
  • Identify and manage project risks, developing and implementing mitigation strategies.


Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to improve project management processes and methodologies related to EV charging infrastructure.
  • Work to further professionalise the company's project management service line
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices, incorporating relevant innovations into the company's project management framework.


Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or PMP certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years leading a team in the project management or construction industry.
  • Direct EV charging experience is a plus but not mandatory.

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Knowledge of EV charging technologies, standards, and regulatory requirements.


Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites as required.
  • Standard office hours, with flexibility for extended hours during critical project phases.
  • Open to hybrid working requirements.

Compensation: 

  • Salary Range: $102 500 to $142 500
  • Market standard health benefit package.
  • Discretionary bonus

The salary range is dependant on the education, training and relevant work experience.

About the Industry

If you haven’t heard about electric vehicle by now, you are most likely not the right fit for this position. The electric vehicle space in general is currently booming. Whether it is in the charging infrastructure space, light or heavy-duty EV space, EV networks, and everything in between. With an estimate $125B in investment needed by 2030 to support the EV growth, room for growth and opportunities are substantial.
