The Network and Systems Administrator plays a critical role in building and maintaining a robust and secure network and systems infrastructure for PRT. The person in this position is responsible for deploying, configuring, updating, and monitoring all active servers, network equipment and supporting systems to ensure seamless operation. Most work hours will be spent indoors in an office environment. However, the person in this role will occasionally be expected to travel to a Canadian and US nursery and work outside regular business hours. Scheduled on-call availability for up to 14 days a month is required.


There may be options for working hybrid, but this position is primarily onsite at their Victoria or Armstrong, BC offices.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the hybrid Active Directory/ Entra ID directory services.
  • Review the list of user requests captured in the help desk systems & schedule meetings with stakeholders to flesh out requirements and details.
  • Migrate on-premise servers, users, and applications to the cloud.
  • Manage, update, and troubleshoot problems within Windows Server, Citrix XenApp, Microsoft Office 365 suite and cloud, and server virtualization in data center and cloud.
  • Collaborate with the server, network, printer support team members, software developers and 3rd Party IT Managed Services Providers.
  • Support a wide variety of on-premise and cloud-based applications.
  • Set up, configure, and update firewalls, firewall policies, switches and access points across the enterprise.
  • Support the helpdesk through advanced troubleshooting skills for 30 sites across Canada and the US using remote tools.
  • Create, test, and deploy Windows 10/11 operating systems, applications and updates via Microsoft Autopilot/Intune.
  • Provide individual orientation and training to new users.
  • Manage and deploy the VOIP phone system.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels.
  • Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement.


Qualifications


Required Education/Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related filed, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience supporting IT and providing a high level of customer service.
  • Microsoft certification, either as MCSE or Azure Administrator.
  • Network certification in Cisco, Fortinet or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware including, but not limited to, physical and virtual servers and storage, laptops, desktops, tablets, printers, scanners, computer peripherals, Apple and Android mobile devices.
  • Proficiency in the latest computer operating systems such as Server 2022, Windows 10/11, Android and IOS, including Microsoft and third-party tools.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Azure, Entra ID and the entire Microsoft 365 suite including Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, InTune and SharePoint.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification in VMware, Citrix XenApp or other virtualization technology.
  • CompTIA Security certification or equivalent.
