Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join their team in Brampton, ON.


As the CI Engineer, you will engage with all levels of the organization, combining technical expertise with strong coaching skills to promote a culture of continuous improvement (Kaizen). You will lead initiatives aimed at challenging the status quo and driving continuous improvement through the application of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Focused Improvement Pillar within the structured World Class Manufacturing system.
  • Challenge the status quo with a persuasive, coaching-driven approach.
  • Provide training at all levels of the organization, ensuring the appropriate Kaizen methodologies and tools are used for the right problems.
  • Facilitate the horizontal expansion of Kaizen methodologies across other pillars and teams.
  • Assess the quality and effectiveness of Kaizen projects, ensuring that all activities deliver measurable results.
  • Organize, track, and analyze the progress and impact of Kaizen projects on reducing targeted losses and wastes.
  • Drive continuous application of Focused Improvement activities throughout the plant, supporting growth initiatives.
  • Consistently work to improve the safety of our employees, our most valuable asset.
  • Ensure the highest standards of safety, environmental protection, quality, and efficiency are achieved and maintained.
  • Participate in and lead root cause analysis to drive corrective actions for safety and environmental issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regulatory, and corporate safety and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Document process improvements and train personnel on the associated changes.
  • Lead the Focused Improvement (FI) Pillar to support the implementation of WCM methodologies, aiming for best-in-class operational performance.
  • Drive project success through effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and evaluate operational risks and opportunities using SWOT analysis.
  • Support all WAM initiatives and participate in WCM audits.
  • Promote a world-class mindset by actively involving team members in the use of WCM tools, fostering cultural change across the team.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years of direct experience as a Continuous Improvement Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Lean Manufacturing, or The Toyota Way methodologies, with expertise in Value Stream Mapping, VA/NVA measurement, 5S, Visual Control, SMED, JIT, OEE, Poka-Yoke, 5Why, and SWOT analysis.
  • Proven experience in leading successful Kaizen projects with a history of measurable results.
  • Strong leadership and effective communication skills, combined with problem-solving and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
