Your role

Reporting to the National Claims Manager, the Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates and settles commercial and personal property claims.


What you bring to the position

• Minimum 5 years of claims adjusting experience (property)

• CIP designation or working towards same to meet licensing requirements

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Excellent negotiation, analytical and investigative skills

• Strong time management, problem solving and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities

• Bilingual (French/English) an asset


What you will do

• Collect and analyze claims information through investigation

• Evaluate coverages, exclusions and liability of various property policies

• Examine subscription claims

• Communicate regularly with subscribers and Lead Adjuster on subscription files

• Maintain timely and accurate records and reserves throughout claim handling

• Provide timely reports (e.g. Large Loss Reports) and file presentations, as required, to Claims Supervisor/Manager

• Attend and present at Large Loss Meetings as required

• Negotiate settlement (or denial)

• Assist with quarterly claims audits as required

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with both claims vendors and clients

• Provide exceptional service 

• Provide timely reports and file presentations to National Claims Manager

• Work closely with Underwriting Department on risk assessment

• Work both independently and as part of the Claims team 

• Provide mentorship and technical consultation as needed

• Actively participate with team in Claims Department projects and ad hoc tasks
