Position Overview:


The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will manage end-to-end payroll processing and benefits administration for the Canadian workforce. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of payroll compliance, employment standards, and benefit administration. You will work closely with Human Resources and Finance to ensure accurate and timely payroll and benefits operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees across Canada, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records within the payroll system, ensuring accurate tracking of hours, benefits, deductions, and other payroll-related information.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, retirement savings plans, and other employee benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll policies, procedures, and relevant legislation (such as ESA, CRA requirements, and other provincial standards).
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, deductions, and general policy questions.
  • Support year-end payroll processes, including T4 distribution and reporting.
  • Coordinate with Finance to ensure payroll journal entries are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports as required by management and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with changes to payroll legislation and ensure policies are updated accordingly.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits related to payroll and benefits.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Canadian payroll and benefits administration.
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (such as ADP, Ceridian Dayforce) and MS Excel.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, employment standards, and benefits programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
